How a Testicular Self-Exam Works

Step 1 illustration - warm shower

1. Check after a warm shower. The warmth relaxes the scrotal skin and makes the exam easier.

Step 2 illustration - roll testicle

2. Roll each testicle gently. Use your thumb and fingers to feel for lumps, nodules, or changes in size or firmness.

Step 3 illustration - learn normal

3. Find the epididymis, a soft rope-like structure on the back of the testicle. If you are familiar with this structure, you won't mistake it for a suspicious lump.

Learn what’s normal for you. It’s normal for one testicle to hang lower or feel slightly larger. The key is noticing changes over time.

Most testicular cancers are found by men themselves by noticing changes to their testicle(s). The app helps you stay consistent and aware.
